gratitude sunday

gratitude — the state of being grateful : thankfulness

On this Gratitude Sunday, I am grateful for:

  • The love and companionship of all of our animal buddies — not just the attention-demanding puppy. 🙂 And it’s nice to see the older two bonding more than ever
  • A really delightful afternoon with one of my dear friends
  • Finding some hyacinth bulbs for forcing — that little bit of spring in the heart of winter is a welcome new tradition
  • The fact that James has a sensible employer, who has called off his scheduled trip to New Hampshire tomorrow (due to the forecasted blizzard) — a huge relief to us both!

  • Spending another fun afternoon with my mother, helping her to sort through old photos and books — including some forgotten favorites of my own 🙂
  • Waking up to eight inches of fluffy white stuff on Saturday morning — I apologize to those who have no fondness for snow, but I just love it
  • Watching the bird feeders while waiting for the kettle to boil — in this weather, this is repeated frequently throughout the day 🙂
  • Fresh-baked cookies (almost) just out of the oven

  • Finally getting around to making senfkraut (mustard sauerkraut) — another item crossed off my “to do” list, yay! Can’t wait until it’s ready 🙂 And so happy that the cabbages are storing so well — our cellar seems to be a perfect environment for them
  • Lots of knitting time this week, which always makes me a happy girl 🙂
  • Eating custard from my grandmother’s cups — a favorite from my childhood
  • A warm fire in the morning
  • A package from one of my favorite Etsy sellers (thanks to my brother for the gift card!)
