yarn along

Today I am joining Ginny’s Yarn Along, sharing what I have been making and reading this week.

On the “make” front, I have started a new project that is neither for the shop nor a gift for friends and family. Rather, I’m working on a prayer shawl that will be donated to a local hospice. It’s been awhile since I’ve knitted in a more charitable way, and I tell you it’s a great feeling, to be able to use a skill to make something meaningful for strangers. 🙂

My reading pile this week is topped by the seventh installment of Alexander McCall Smith’s “No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency” series, called “Blue Shoes and Happiness.” I am probably six or more books behind (he is one prolific author!), but I like to read Precious stories in the throes of winter. There is such a warmth to McCall Smith’s writing that makes his stories just what I want to read on gray, cold January days. 🙂

  1. I admire your time to knit for charity. It is for a wonderful cause. I have missed my charity knitting these past two months. I too have enjoyed reading Alexander McCall Smith mysteries.
