freezing rain, agatha, and deadly dinners

IMG_2682I’m not sure why but I tend to find Agatha Christie murder mysteries on my reading pile in December. Of course, there are her Christmas classics like The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding and Hercule Poirot’s Christmas, but the setting doesn’t need to be holiday time for my liking. It must be the gray skies, the shifting light, the stillness of early December that call for a bit of suspense.

And today’s dreary freezing rain sets the perfect stage for a bit of her delicious homicidal intrigue, along with a cup of tea and the latest issue of Heirloom Gardener, which (coincidentally?) contains an article titled “Deadly Dinners” — I’m sure Miss Marple would eat that up. Time for another cuppa…..
