It’s been awhile since I checked in for Ginny’s Yarn Along, but with my renewed book reading commitment, I am going to rejoin this weekly group of needle folk sharing what they’re making and reading.
So with the subfreezing temperatures this week, my hot water bottle and I have spent a lot of time together and I got to thinking that it could use a new cover. I randomly pulled out leftover bits of cashmere/merino wool and got started. And so far, I’m really pleased. It’s bright and cheery and warm, much like the book I’ve been reading.
“In the Company of Cheerful Ladies” in the sixth novel in Alexander McCall Smith’s “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” series. I am several years and books behind Mr. Smith, who is a prolific author penning not just this series but several others, but intend to eventually read everything he’s written. That’s how much I enjoy his storytelling — his books are smart, honest, easy to read (even when difficult subjects are involved), transporting. Which is why Botswana is on my list of countries I’d most like to visit. 🙂
