welcome winter!

Winter is here — happy Solstice! And my two-week vacation has officially begun — could not be happier! We celebrated the start of my break last night by traveling to Bethlehem (PA) for a dinner out, and what a treat that was — aloo gobi for me and vindaloo for James. Highly recommend Nawab if you find yourself in our neck of the woods.

We had hoped to also visit the Christkindelmarkt, but its early closing time was surprising (especially as we’re used to later-night shopping in similar Christmas markets in Germany), so we found another seasonal attraction to put us in the appropriate holiday frame of mind — Lights in the Parkway, which was a lot of fun, too, and seemed appropriate for Solstice Eve.

Today I braved the shopping scene for my one day out among the madness. I am again relieved by our choices to scale back our gifting because it was awfully nice to be in and out of the shops in just a few hours. Now just wrapping and more baking on my Santa’s list!
